“The Missing Piece”
Have you ever tried to build a puzzle with some missing pieces?
Without all the pieces there, the putting together ceases.
You look everywhere, under places and on the floor,
without the missing piece, the puzzle cannot be played anymore.
There is only one that goes there, only one can fit.
Maybe that’s what life is like, finding the piece that’s it.
Happiness, God, a person, or a thing,
Find your missing puzzle piece so your picture can be seen.
– Ashlin Grace Hair
Hello everyone, I am Ashlin, also the writer of this poem. As the oldest of the 11 kids in our house, I like to get away sometimes and be by myself just to have some quiet time. The other day this thought just came to my mind and I decided to write it out in poem form. This poem was inspired by my recent struggle with finding myself, rather than looking for other people to affirm my identity. In the past, I have looked for other people to tell me I am talented, I am beautiful, that I am doing a good job, or even that I have a purpose in life. This came out especially in relationships with my friends and also boyfriends.
It always felt like something was missing in my heart. Like there was a piece of the puzzle that needed to be put down before I could move on. I realized that missing piece was a relationship with my creator. The One that gave His only son so I could have eternal life in Heaven. The One in whom I find my true worth, my beauty, and the purpose He has for my life. If I don’t have God in my “puzzle” of life, nothing else will fall in place.
Sometimes the missing piece in your life isn’t God at the moment. At times it’s a relationship with a friend, or a better relationship with your parents. Sometimes God brings a piece to us in the form of a life changing event that impacts your heart. The pieces of your life puzzle sometimes aren’t always ones you are happy to put in. but it’s what makes you, you. God places things in our life to change us, or even to have us lean on him for strength. Through this, He pulls us closer to himself. Pray about the missing pieces of your life. What needs to come in, what might be in your life now that just doesn’t fit. Your puzzle is always being built throughout your life, but don’t give up on finishing the picture. In the end it will be beautiful. Your life has purpose. You are strong, you are unique, you are HIS. Pray and build your puzzle.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

November 5, 2016 at 2:16pmHello!
Thanks for sharing this story about the “Missing Pieces” of the Puzzles of Our Lives, it’s such a real Blessing and Encouragement!
I have been preparing to speak/share at our Christian School, Chapel Service in a couple weeks and would like to possibly share this with them! If that would be okay with you, I would greatly appreciate it? GOD has laid it on my heart for sometime now to do this at our small School. The message He keeps laying on my heart has been of this central theme “Don’t Be The Missing Piece” and “it’s Ok, GOD’s Got the Box”!!!
Anyways, when I read your post it gave me Assurance that this what GOD would have me to do! Thanks Again for Sharing and GOD Bless!!!
